Juliette Venter, Societies Law, 2025. Painting.

Juliette VenterSocieties Law2025

I've made this piece because I feel as women we are forced to conform to todays society which is crazy. There are certain standards for women in the world. We always have to look a certain way and be something that we are not. We even get frowned at when we are overweight. This woman is painted in grey monotones, her one eye is blind whilst the other eye can see. She's painted in grey because she refuse to be what the world wants her to be. Her eye is blinded by the laws of society towards women. The other eye can see and she is very aware of how crazy the world is today yet she refuses to drop her standards to become part of the crazy world. She is rebelling against it al. I've painted over this canvas about three times so there are layers and layers of colours. I've also used moulding paste to create an amazing texture. The size of the painting is 50cm x 50cm stretched canvas. Can be framed or hanged. The style is abstract surrealism and I've used oil as my media.
